Friday’s Five Tunes with Alida

Alida Fridays Five

Always wondered what pop stars themselves listen to whenever they are not on stage or writing new music? It’s time to find out! Every week, A Bit of Pop Music will bring you Friday’s Five Tunes, a selection of five favourite songs by a current pop artist. This week’s act: Alida!

Alida has been working her way up in the Norwegian music industry over the past couple of years. The electronic pop artist made a big impression when she launched her debut single ‘Feathers’ in 2013. The catchy pop tune made its way to a lot of music blogs and after the just as infectious ‘Some Of Us’ the debut album To Where We Reside followed. At the end of 2015 she came back swinging with the dark and edgy new single ‘When I Die‘, showing a whole new side to her exciting brand of electro pop. 2016’s ‘Leave It All Behind‘ even further established her as a ‘one to watch’. These are her five favourite tracks, with of course some Scandinavian electronic pride!

Imogen Heap – Wait It Out
“I have really enjoyed listening to some older stuff by Imogen Heap lately. ‘Wait it Out’ has such haunting melody lines and lyrics; I seem to always get back to that song without ever really getting tired of it.”

Coldplay – O
“I feel kind of the same about ‘O’ by Coldplay as I do with Imogen Heap. it’s a song full of so much feeling, and I can’t help but to keep coming back to it.”

Sugababes – Overload
“I also recently re-discovered the Sugababes (I know, right?!). One day I randomly heard one of their bigger hits, ‘Overload’, which is super COOL. So groovy, and completely different to anything that was out there back then!”

Noonie Bao – I’m In Love (Coucheron Remix)
“I’m in looove with Coucheron’s remix of Swedish singer-songwriter Noonie Bao’s ‘Im in Love’. Captivating production. I’m also a big fan of Noonie Bao’s unique vocals.”

Röyksopp & Robyn – Monument
“Last but not least there is “Monument” by Norwegian producers Röyksopp and Swedish pop star Robyn which has been a favourite of mine for a while now. Especially The Inevitable End version… I love it!”

That is one fine playlist Alida! Don’t forget to check out her own tunes, including the most recent, very energetic single, ‘Leave It All Behind’!
