Sigrid just wants to be ‘Raw’ on new single
2018 was off to a big start for Norwegian pop star Sigrid. Next to being chosen as most promising artist for 2018 on A Bit of Pop Music, she also won the BBC Sound of 2018 poll. Her most recent single ‘Strangers’ became her biggest hit so far, with reaching top 10 in both the United Kingdom and her home country Norway. Now she is ready to move on with her next track, titled ‘Raw’. She has been performing this one live for a while now, but today we finally get to enjoy the studio version!

Sigrid has been establishing herself as a girl next door with attitude. Her brand is straightforward pop music with killer hooks, prominent beats and big choruses, often with ‘in your face’ lyrics and delivery. On ‘Raw’, she slows down the pace just a little, but of course cooked up another catchy melody for us. The lyrics especially stand out on this track. “I just wanna be pure. You know I’m terrible at putting up a show. That’s what you wanted me for? So I get pissed off when you ask me to be more”, she sings confidently. People who want to make her into something she is not, based on her success, should take notes listening to this track. ‘Raw’ is said to be the first track taken off her sophomore EP Sigrid2, following up 2017’s Don’t Kill My Vibe.
