Young Lady in Red Charli XCX releases infectious new single

It only has been a few months since she released her debut album, but Charli XCX already has her mind set on the next project. The young singer seems unstoppable at the moment as she already premiered the first single of her second album today. The track is called ‘SuperLove’ and might be her most infectious and radio friendly single to date.

In April Charli XCX released a brilliant pop album called True Romance including great singles like ‘You (Ha Ha Ha)’ and ‘You’re The One’, but somehow did not manage to set the charts on fire. At the same time, she co-wrote and featured on Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’ which became one of the biggest hits of the year worldwide. ‘SuperLove’ might become the solo hit she deserves as it is pop music at its finest. It is cheeky, it is playful, it contains infectious beats and hand claps and has a chorus that can not be denied.

Charli XCX shot the video for the song in Japan and it was directed by Ryan Andrews. It shows Charli walking the streets of Tokyo and dancing with robots in a way that complements the playful mood of the song. Visually, the video is attractive thanks to the smart choices for red outfits that match perfectly with the colourful settings of the Japanese game halls.

Charli XCX will probably release her second album in the first quarter of 2014. Bring it on, I’d say!

Zangeres Charli XCX deelt aanstekelijke nieuwe single met de wereld

Het is nog maar een paar maanden geleden dat Charli XCX haar debuutalbum uitbracht, maar ondertussen is ze alweer met een volgend project bezig. De jonge zangeres lijkt onvermoeibaar op het moment, gezien het feit dat ze vandaag de eerste single van haar tweede album alweer in première liet gaan. De track heet ‘SuperLove’ en kan haar meest pakkende en radiovriendelijke single tot nu toe genoemd worden.

In april bracht Charli XCX het briljante popalbum True Romance uit, dat sterke singles als ‘You (Ha Ha Ha)’ en ‘You’re The One’ bevatte. Een groot succes in de hitlijsten werd het echter niet. Tegelijkertijd schreef en zong ze mee op ‘I Love It’ van Icona Pop wat uiteindelijk een grote wereldwijde hit werd. Het zou zomaar kunnen dat ‘SuperLove’ de solo-hit wordt die Charli verdient, aangezien het alles in zich heeft wat een goede popsong moet hebben. Het heeft iets ondeugends en speels, het bevat pakkende beats en aanstekelijke klappende handen en om het catchy refrein kan helemaal niemand heen.

Charli XCX reisde af naar Japan om de video op te nemen, die werd geregisseerd door Ryan Andrews. In de clip zien we Charli door de straten van Tokyo lopen en wordt ze dansend met robots gefilmd, wat allemaal past bij het speelse karakter van de song. Visueel is het zeker een aantrekkelijke video geworden dankzij de goed uitgekozen rode outfits van Charli, die perfect passen bij de kleurrijke settings van de Japanse speelhallen.

Charli XCX zal haar tweede album waarschijnlijk in het eerste kwartaal van 2014 uitbrengen. Kom maar op zou ik zeggen!
