Sharon Doorson releases new single and stunning video
I thought it was about time to write something about an artist from my own country, The Netherlands. Who better to write about than one of the most ‘international’ Dutch artists at the moment, in terms of sound and appeal? Of course I am talking about Sharon Doorson. She did a few talent shows, was part of a girl band, but ever since she released her first single ‘Fail In Love’, she has her own sound and direction and a few hits to her name!
It is clear that both Sharon and her team had a good vision of what kind of music would fit her as an artist and what sound could bring her success. The current, well-produced dance-pop sound brought her a hit with ‘Fail In Love’. Next single ‘High On Your Love’ followed the same path and sounded even more like a hit. As expected, this song did very well in the charts too. Then it was time for Sharon to launch her debut album, called Killer. One of the best tracks on the album, ‘Run Run’, is now released as next single.
‘Run Run’ does have all elements that a good dance-pop song needs. The production is great, the chorus is strong and catchy, Doorson’s vocals are on point and the lyrics have that little bit of attitude. “You’re playing with fire, but you’re about to get burned. You’re such a good liar, the truth is gonna hurt. That’s right you better run!”, she sings convincingly, before a smashing dance break kicks in. Judging by the Dutch iTunes chart of the past week, Doorson is onto another hit, and rightfully so.
The singer released a video for the song as well, which is directed by Mike Static. It might be Doorson’s best video to date. She looks better than ever, the outside setting works very well and the dancing bits are good too. The best shots show Sharon standing on a high platform with her white dress floating in the wind. The video also features some scenes of a running man, which are shot very nicely. The comments on the video on YouTube quite often mention that Sharon should go to Eurovision next year. It is no wonder people ask for her to do it, as she sounds international, looks like a proper pop star and has an amazing voice.

Sharon Doorson komt met nieuwe single en schitterende video
Het leek mij hoog tijd om eens iets te schrijven over een artiest van eigen bodem. Over wie kan ik dan beter schrijven dan een van Nederlands meest internationale artiesten van het moment, als het gaat om sound en uitstraling? Ik heb het natuurlijk over Sharon Doorson. Ze deed mee aan een aantal talentenjachten, zat een tijdje in een girlband, maar sinds de release van haar debuutsingle ‘Fail In Love’ heeft ze haar eigen sound en richting gevonden en zelfs al een paar flinke hits op haar naam weten te zetten.
Het is duidelijk dat zowel Sharon als haar team al een helder beeld hadden van welke muziek bij Sharon als een artiest zou passen en waar ze mee zou kunnen scoren. De hedendaagse, goed geproduceerde dance-pop bracht haar een hit in de vorm van ‘Fail In Love’. De volgende single ‘High On Your Love’ volgde hetzelfde pad en klonk zelfs nog meer als een hit. De track deed het dan ook erg goed in de hitlijsten. Toen was het tijd voor Doorson om haar debuutalbum, Killer genaamd, te lanceren. Eén van de beste tracks van het album, ‘Run Run’ is nu uitgebracht als de nieuwe single.
Eigenlijk heeft ‘Run Run’ alle elementen die een goede dance-pop track nodig heeft. De productie is sterk, het refrein is catchy, Doorson’s stem klinkt heerlijk als altijd en de tekst heeft een stoere attitude. “You’re playing with fire, but you’re about to get burned. Doorson had de afgelopen week weer een hit te pakken in de Nederlandse iTunes chart, en terecht!
Vorige week bracht de zangeres ook een video uit voor deze single, geregisseerd door Mike Static. Het zou zo maar eens haar beste video tot nu toe kunnen zijn. Sharon ziet er schitterend uit, de setting op de Veluwe werkt zeer goed als achtergrond en de choreografie ziet er strak uit. De mooiste shots zien we echter wanneer Doorson in een witte, in de wind wapperende, jurk op een verhoogd platform staat. Ook de scène waarin we een rennende man voorbij zien komen zijn erg mooi geschoten. In de reacties onder de video op YouTube valt het op dat er vaak wordt gezegd dat Sharon volgend jaar naar het Eurovisie Songfestival zou moeten gaan. Het is niet zo vreemd dat mensen haar daar willen zien, gezien ze internationaal klinkt, eruit ziet als een echte popster en bovenal een indrukwekkende stem heeft.
