Song of the Day: Eric Saade – Girl From Sweden

Eric Saade Girl From Sweden

Eric Saade’s new single is ode to girls from Sweden
We all remember Eric Saade as the ‘Popular’ Swedish guy that made it to the 3rd place in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2011. This year he was back in Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection, with an irrestibly catchy tune called ‘Sting’. In the end he lost to ‘Heroes’ by Måns Zelmerlöw, but this did not stop Saade from releasing another addictive pop song. These days he is aiming at a big summer hit in Sweden and maybe even beyond the borders of his own country with his new single ‘Girl From Sweden’.

‘Girl From Sweden’ is great fun. It has a summery production and a great whistle in the chorus that will not leave your brain for the next 20 years or so. The always modest Eric states in the first verse that he has been around the world and that a lot of girls want to get down with him. But you know what? He always comes back to his home country because he has got a ‘Girl From Sweden’! The lyrics may sound juvenile, but it works perfectly in context of a fun, upbeat track that does not take itself too seriously as well. Maybe it is kind of a guilty pleasure, but I am not ashamed to admit this will be one of my tunes this summer.
