Dutch talent onto second worldwide hit

Dutch singer Natalie La Rose surprised earlier this year with her worldwide smash hit ‘Somebody’, featuring rapper Jeremih. The R&B track with a sample of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ became a top 10 hit in the American Billboard charts before even making it to the top 40 in her home country the Netherlands. La Rose is enjoying international success as her debut single is debuting in the top 3 of the British charts as well this week. The singer who teamed up with Flo-Rida for a record deal, does not have much time to enjoy the sudden success, because she will have to work hard not to become a one-hit-wonder. She released second single ‘Around the World’ to make sure she will be here to stay.
Where her debut single could be described as smooth, sexy and subtle, La Rose takes a somewhat different approach on her second single. Of course she did not stray too much from the R&B path, but ‘Around the World’ is much more in your face and uptempo. The track starts out slow and Natalie’s beautiful vocals take the spotlight, but towards the chorus a beat joins in and the chorus itself is built upon an instantly catchy ‘rarara’ hook, that does not leave your head after listening. This is still very much directed at the urban oriented American market, but it does have a few hints of eurodance in it. If Natalie was able to take over the world with a sexy R&B jam, I think she will definitely enjoy international success with this summer banger as well.

Nederlands talent Natalie La Rose lanceert tweede single
Ineens was ze daar eerder dit jaar. De Nederlandse Natalie La Rose scoorde zomaar een gigantische hit in Amerika met haar debuutsingle ‘Somebody’, met een rap van Jeremih. De R&B song met een sample van Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ stond al in de top 10 van de Amerikaanse Billboard hitlijst voordat ze de Nederlandse top 40 ook maar had bereikt. Na verschillende internationale successen is deze week het Verenigd Koninkrijk ook aan de beurt, waar ze naar alle waarschijnlijkheid in de top 3 binnenkomt. De zangeres die een platencontract tekende bij Flo-Rida heeft echter geen tijd om achterover te leunen en het succes in te laten werken. Ze moet gaan knallen met een tweede single! Er is gekozen voor de plaat ‘Around The World’ om te laten zien dat Natalie geen eendagsvlieg is.
Waar haar debuutsingle kan worden omschreven als een sexy en subtiele R&B track, gaat La Rose een ander pad in voor haar tweede release. Natuurlijk is ze niet helemaal afgestapt van de R&B, maar ‘Around The World’ is zeker wat krachtiger en meer uptempo. Het lied begint rustig met de stem van Natalie volledig in het middelpunt, maar zodra we in de buurt van het refrein komen, zwellen de beats aan. Het refrein zelf bestaat uit een zeer pakkend riedeltje dat wordt vertaald naar de tekst ‘rarara’. Dit krijg je de rest van je dag in ieder geval niet meer uit je hoofd. Hoewel dit lied nog steeds vooral is gericht op de Amerikaanse markt, klinkt het toch ook wat meer Europees met wat hints naar Eurodance. Als het Natalie al lukte om de wereld te veroveren met een puur R&B liedje, dan verwacht ik dat ze het internationaal wederom goed gaat doen met deze potentiële zomerhit.
