Review:
Karen Harding surprised the UK earlier this year by reaching the highest regions of the charts with her single ‘Say Something’. The singer who tried her luck on X Factor and Your Country Needs You (Eurovision preselection) before, teamed up with producer MNEK and returned to the glorious sound of the dance and house of the 90’s. She topped it all off with great vocals on that hit worthy chorus. The expectations are high now for a second release. She features on the song ‘New Love’ by the Belgian house duo Arches and this is exactly what she should be doing at this point in her career.
Producers Seba and Jochen created a song that sounds like an immediate hit and it fits the vocals and style of Karen Harding very well. It does have the same 90’s vibe that ‘Say Something’ has, but a little lighter and more suitable for partying at a summer night. ‘New Love’, a track about being ready to move on and finding a brand new lover, sounds somewhat like the songs that Clean Bandit did with Jess Glynne, but without the classical elements and more emphasis on the beats. On the back of the success of ‘Say Something’ this should become a hit in the UK and I reckon Belgium will be on board too. From there on they might as well conquer Europe with this potential summer hit. I know I will be playing this a LOT.
