Song of the Day: Alesha Dixon – The Way We Are

Alesha Dixon The Way We Are

Alesha Dixon, the woman who brought us the utterly brilliant European super hit ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ in 2008, is back with a new single. The former Miss Teeq singer was busy being a judge recently, but luckily she did not abandon her pop career after the disappointing chart positions of her album The Entertainer from 2010. She announced the release of a new record later this year and ‘The Way We Are’ is the first single. The song already premiered in May, but was released officialy in the UK this week. A good moment to make it song of the day at A Bit of Pop Music.

‘The Way We Are’ could best be described as an update to her own sound. She once again brings an upbeat and summery leadsingle, which sounds current, slightly similar to for example Jess Glynne’s successful ‘Hold My Hand’. The instrumentation swings convincingly and the chorus is catchy as hell, although a bit repetitive. Alesha still has those characteristic vocals which suit this sound perfectly as well. Oh, and can we just take moment to be in awe of how gorgeous she looks in the video? Thanks! ‘The Way We Are’ is released on Dixon’s own record label and currently performs in between the 20th and 30th position in the UK iTunes charts. Let’s hope she will chart at least in top 20 in the official charts!
