Single Review: Demi Lovato – Cool for the Summer

Demi Lovato Cool for the Summer

Demi Lovato presents poppy single with edgy production
The summer is coming and Demi Lovato understands what this means. A summer single had to be released. ‘Cool for the Summer’ is the first single of her upcoming fifth album that probably will be released later this year. From the four albums she released so far, she dropped quite a few great pop singles like the beautiful ‘Skyscraper’ and ‘Heart Attack’, a banger with a humongous chorus. And what does ‘Cool for the Summer’ sound like? Pure pop with an edgy production!

Demi’s Disney peers Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez both shown a more sexy side on their most recent material and it seems Demi is doing the same. Her vocals sound seductive during the verses and lyrics like ‘I got my mind on your body and your body on my mind’ and ‘got a taste for that cherry, I just need to take a bite’ make it quite clear what this track is about. The preview of the video and the cover art revealed some more daring images than we are used to from Demi with some bikini top action.

But what about the music? ‘Cool for the Summer’ is powerful like you would expect from Demi. The song is pop with a few little hints of rocky guitars and some big vocals. The Production is quite brilliant and dynamic with a repeating piano melody that is later repeated with some electronic guitars and synths. A little edgy but so poppy at the same time! The sensual verses lead up to something big and when the instrumental breakdown comes in, all you can do is hope: ‘Let this not be the chorus, let this not be the chorus…’ And then… BAM! ‘Take me down into your Paradise, don’t be scared cause I’m your body type!’ That is what I call a proper chorus and exactly what this track needed to become a worthy pop banger. I’m enjoying this fresh, daring and summery new Demi single! Ssshhh, don’t tell your mother…
