Review:
Jess Glynne is one of the biggest hit sensations coming from the UK over the past years. After the huge success of her collaboration ‘Rather Be’ with Clean Bandit, She had three more number one hits: Solo hit ‘Hold My Hand’, ‘My Love’ with Route 94 and most recently ‘Not Letting Go’ with Tinie Tempah. ‘Real Love’ with Clean Bandit reached the second place and ‘Right Here’ made its way to top 10 as well. On the 14th of August, her debut album I Cry When I Laugh will be released. The single to launch the record is ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’, of which the studio version premiered today. Another huge hit, that’s for sure!
Never change a winning formula, Jess and her team must have thought. The sound of ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ is similar to her first solo number 1 ‘Hold My Hand’, but as this was one of the best singles of the year, no one should be complaining about this really. ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ is just as uplifting, catchy and contagious as its predecessor. The beats are light and topped off by a nice piano rhythm. And that post chorus, it swings so much I just need to hear it on a beach party somewhere! As we heard on her previous singles, this sound matches her beautiful vocals perfectly and I am sure we will find this on top of the charts in August when it is released in the United Kingdom. A perfect song to grace our summer playlists!
