Review:
If an infectious little pop track is all you need to brighten up this rainy (well, at least in Amsterdam!) day, then stay right here and look no further. You might remember British artist Melissa Steel’s voice from her dance collaboration with Blonde called ‘I Loved You’ that became a hit in Europe. She also showed she can do things on her own though, when her solo single ‘Kisses for Breakfast’ broke into the British top 10 in August 2014. Now, exactly a year later, she is back with the new single ‘You Love Me?’, a breezy pop track produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins with a rap from Wretch 32.
Steel was beyond excited to work with producer Darkchild on her new single. “I grew up listening to the hits he’s produced over the years, many of which inspired me to become a singer”, she explains. ‘You Love Me?’ is an insanely catchy and infectious pop track with some hints of R&B and hiphop that deals with a boyfriend that is obviously into her, but does not yet dare to say it out loud. The sample with the cute vocals that say ‘You love, you love me, you know that you love me’ will stay in your head forever, so please be warned. Melissa sounds great on this track with her sweet and soaring vocals that reach high heights. The video was released on the 3rd of August and breathes the right summery atmosphere that the song possesses as well. When this song will be officially released on the 11th of September, it might make the summer stay for just a little longer!
