Single Review: Diana Vickers – Chains

Diana Vickers Chains Awaiting

Pop star turned actress Diana Vickers back with soundtrack single
It is almost two years ago that Diana Vickers released her second album called Music To Make Boys Cry. The singer who gained fame through X Factor UK in 2008 and scored a number one hit with her single ‘Once’ and debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree, started to focus on acting lately and wasn’t planning on releasing any new music. But when you have a pop star starring in your new thriller, why not ask her to record a soundtrack as well? That is what the makers of ‘Awaiting’ must have thought.

Diana played roles in theatre in titles like ‘The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and The Duck House while she also appeared in the TV series Give Out Girls and the movie The Perfect Wave. She plays one of the main roles in the upcoming movie Awaiting for which she recorded the trackĀ ‘Chains’. It follows the electronic pop style of her previous record, but she has never sounded so dark before. The track starts out with suspenseful synths and Diana’s distinctive vocals sound haunting this time around. The actual echoing of the word ‘echo’ at the end of the chorus is smart and works well within the context of the song. This sure will fit with the thriller it was recorded for. She belts it out in the chorus and hearing that beautiful voice makes you realize that we miss the pop star Diana! Come back for a third record please!

The song was premiered over at Digital Spy.
