Single Review: Little Mix – Weird People

Little Mix get Weird

Little Mix girls go full on eighties on new single
As most of us already know, the girls of Little Mix are planning to release their third album soon. The record, called Get Weird, will be released on the 6th of November and they just launched a brand new promo single called ‘Weird People’. After the success and number 1 placing in the UK charts with the straightfoward pop track ‘Black Magic’, their throwback to the girlbands of the 60s, ‘Love Me Like You’ did underperform, although it’s quite the brilliant pop song. Now they dived into the sound of the 80s with a swinging and hyperactive tune.

‘Weird People’ is that kind of song that is on full force for the whole three and a half minutes. The track doesn’t take time to build up, but starts with big and bold vocals and this is maintained throughout. The Production is swinging with loud drums, subtle guitars and some sound effects which brings an 80s vibe all together. The song immediately reminded me of whirlwind pop tracks like ‘Tell It To My Heart’ (Taylor Dane) and the uptempo soundtracks ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy’ (Deniece Williams for Footloose) and ‘What A Feeling’ (Irene Cara for Flashdance). The voices of Perrie, Leigh-Ann, Jade and Jesy are strong enough to convincingly pull of this bold anthem that proclaims that every person has its weird sides and we should all celebrate them. So far every single from Get Weird has sounded quite different from one another so I am curious to hear what the album as a whole will sound like.
