Single Review: Maria Mena – I Don’t Wanna See You With Her

Maria Mena I Don't wanna see you with her

Maria Mena launches fragile ballad as new single
It has been a while since we heard anything from Maria Mena. The Norwegian pop songbird released her album Weapon In Mind in the fall of 2013 and took some time to record a new one called Growing Pains, out on the 4th of December. The first single ‘I Don’t Wanna See You With Her’ came out this week and it is a typical Maria Mena ballad. The singer-songwriter who brought us beautiful hits like ‘Just Hold Me’, ‘All This Time (Pick-Me-Up Song)’ and ‘Miss You Love’, brings another emotional ballad to our radios.

‘I Don’t Wanna See You With Her’ tells the story of a woman who broke up with her boyfriend, but isn’t ready yet to give him up completely. She finds out he has a new girl, and although she is happy for him, she doesn’t want to be confronted by the sight of the two lovebirds together. That’s quite a relatable topic isn’t it? Of course this emotional story is told in an atmospheric and melodic ballad with a sing-along chorus. Mena’s characteristic vocals sound as warm and fragile as always and she manages to sell the song in a convincing way, which makes you feel for her. On the album Weapon In Mind Maria experimented with her sound, but on the new single she goes back to the signature sound that made her popular in the first place. She never disappoints, now does she?
