Single Review: Foxes – Amazing / If You Leave Me Now

Foxes Better Love

Foxes shows emotional side on new promo single
British pop singer-songwriter Louisa Rose Allen, better known by her stage name Foxes, has released a brand new promo single called ‘If You Leave Me Now’. Foxes is currently preparing the delayed release of her second studio album All I Need, now planned for the 5th of February. After the sugary 80s anthem ‘Body Talk’ and the powerful collaboration ‘Better Love’ with Bastille’s Dan Smith she now goes for a big ballad and that’s a first!

Foxes usually gives us the upbeat and insanely catchy pop tunes we love, but she proves she can pull off an emotional ballad with a soaring chorus and some raw vocals just as well. The instrumentation of the track about the end of a relationship that is coming closer is gorgeous as well, with a dramatic strings section at the end of the chorus. And that’s exactly what this type of track needs! It’s exciting to hear this different side of Foxes and it makes you realize the powers of her vocals even more. Could have been a perfect single around Christmas, instead of just a promo thingy!

Update 4 December: Foxes is on a roll! The third official single from her upcoming album is now out as well and it is the track ‘Amazing’, a song that already leaked in June and caused the album release to be delayed. The uplifting and swinging tune ha a prominent piano rhythm and is of course irresistibly catchy. It’s actually quite close to the sound that made Jess Glynne so popular so this might catapult Foxes back in the charts.
