Song of the Day: Kylie Minogue – Every Day’s Like Christmas

Kylie Minogue Christmas

Christmas will be celebrated with Kylie this year
It’s gonna be a Kylie Christmas this year! The Australian pop star worked on her first full Holiday album after a lengthy festival tour this summer. She recorded the legendary tunes everyone knows and some brand new, hopefully soon to become, Christmas classics. The album Kylie Christmas was released last month and the official single is ‘Every Day’s Like Christmas’, a tune written by Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Kylie even received some help from her producers team back in the day!

‘Every Day’s Like Christmas’ was originally written as a slightly electronic pop ballad that suits the winter season. Of course the message is about how every day feels like Christmas day when you spend time with the one you love. Might sound cheesy, but isn’t that exactly what a Christmas song is supposed to be? I thought so! To give the catchy tune some extra beat, Kylie reunited with Stock, Aitken en Waterman (SAW), the producers with whom she recorded hits like ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ and ‘Better The Devil You Know’. Give us that late 80s early 90s sound that we love!

Kylie’s Christmas album is a gift that keeps on giving, as we also get a duet by Kylie and her sister Dannii Minogue. They recorded the dancey pop tune ‘100 Degrees’, which is without a doubt one of the most campy things you have heard in a while, but in this season, that kind of thing is allowed. And let’s be fair, we wouldn’t want it any other way when it comes to the Minogue sisters!
