Kerri Watt runs into the wild on new single
Remember when Kerri Watt made a big impression on us last year with her single ‘Long Way Home’? The Scottish singer-songwriter recorded a brilliant video for the moving ballad, which ended up in our Best Videos of 2015 list. She recently released a new single called ‘The Wild’ and teamed up with director Michael-Kaine again. This time around they travelled to Iceland to visualize the idea of the song and the result is once again very pleasing to watch!
In terms of sound, Kerri chose quite a different approach for ‘The Wild’. It could best be described as an uptempo singer-songwriter pop tune with a light rocky vibe and an uplifting chorus. Her vocals convince just as much in this faster pace as on the dramatic slowies. The lyrics deal with an escape into the wild, leaving everything behind and experiencing new sensations. In the music video this is translated into a story about Kerri, who is not happy with the people around her who try to push her in musical directions she doesn’t feel comfortable with. She flees to the beautiful landscapes in Iceland, writes tunes, and comes back stronger than ever and performs as her true self with her guitar! Good for her! Another powerful tune by a young lady we will certainly keep an eye on!
