Always wondered what pop stars themselves listen to whenever they are not on stage or writing new music? It’s time to find out! Every week, A Bit of Pop Music will bring you Friday’s Five Tunes, a selection of five favourite songs by a current pop artist. First up: Kerri Watt!

Kerri Watt is a Scottish singer-songwriter who impressed many with her 2015 single ‘Long Way Home’. The emotional ballad was released with a dramatic and stunning music video and the song got playlisted at BBC. The same goes for the more upbeat most recent single ‘The Wild’. Watt is quickly becoming one of the next big things in country pop, so we’re happy she found time to present us her five favourite tunes. Also interesting… find out to which song she imagines herself dancing in the arms of Jude Law!

Leon Bridges – Coming Home
“I absolutely love this tune. It’s effortless, timeless and Leon’s voice has a classic sound to it that is so smooth.”

Little Big Town – Sober
“This American country band have been around for years but I only became aware of them at the London Country2Country Festival a few weeks ago. They were incredible live and this song was a real stand out. Great lyrics and beautiful harmonies.”

John Mayer – Wildfire
“One of my all time favourite artists… As soon as Spring sets in and the sun starts peeking through, I get this song on the headphones and head down to the coast.”

Tom Odell – Can’t Pretend
“I loved this song when it was out and I had been waiting for Tom to come back with something new. I just saw he announced some new music so I’ve been listening to this while I wait! His vocal delivery is just so raw and passionate and I love the dark, moody feel of the verses contrasting with the more positive chorus.”

Aretha Franklin – You Send Me
“A classic, feel good love song. I listen to it all the time to put me in a good mood. It actually features at the end of the movie The Holiday so everytime I hear it I imagine I’m Cameron Diaz and picture myself dancing around with Jude Law.”

Thanks for your wonderful little playlist Kerri! Wondering what she sounds like herself? Check out her irresistibly catchy and uplifting new single ‘The Wild’!
