Cassadee Pope returns with catchy four track EP
It is already over three years ago that Cassadee Pope won The Voice in the USA. She released her debut album Frame By Frame in 2013 and had a hit with the fantastic single ‘Wasting All These Tears’. She disappeared for a while, but returned last year with the single ‘I Am Invincible’, which was supposed to be the lead single of a second album that never got a release. She recently had a hit with ‘Think Of You’, a duet on Chris Young’s latest album. Now it is time for Cassadee to do it on her own again with the release of the catchy four track EP called Summer.

The first single, the title track ‘Summer’, will be officially released on the 6th of June and could well make a big impact on radio. It is just so, so catchy. This type of well written pop song about a summer lover with a light country twist is exactly what Cassadee should be doing. It fits her sweet vocals perfectly and the hook in the chorus is undeniable. This is not the only strong pop track on the EP though. ‘Piano’ has an infectious melody as well that could work wonders as a single. The verses might remind you of ‘Pieces of Me’ by Ashlee Simpson (that was what came to my mind at least), but the chorus is seriously life giving. The build up is lush, the lyrics clever and the ‘you played me like a piano’ parts will not leave your head anytime soon.

‘Kisses At Airports’, the only track she did not co-write herself, is a classic country ballad with a moving story which is told convincingly by Pope. ‘Alien’ is a straightforward pop track with stunning vocals and a light arrangement. Cassadee Pope shows with this strong selection of songs that she exactly knows what she should sound like and I for one can’t wait to have a second full record!
