Perttu is ready for summer hit with ‘Waves’
It is June already so it is slowly but steadily becoming summer, which means we have to keep an eye out for this year’s potential summer hits! I know Finland would normally not be the first country to look for that, but this year they have a potential smash waiting. Drummer turned producer Perttu recorded the track ‘Waves’ with Finnish singer Alexandra, who also happens to be a youth friend. Perttu and Alexandra both operate from Berlin and they are ready to conquer the rest of Europe with a song that has a lot of international hit potential.

‘Waves’ is a dance tune with a breezy, laidback, summery vibe, that reminds us of the successful sound of producers and DJ’s like Kygo and Felix Jaehn. Perttu is signed to Universal where he actually works with the same team as Jaehn, so that makes sense. The track is right on the money with a powerful vocal hook, but never feels contrived thanks to the percussion and flute sounds. Alexandra has a distinctive, soulful voice. Her tone is tailor made for the kind of electronic music Perttu produces. The music video adds to the summery vibe with footage of a boat party that everyone would like to join. I could see myself dancing to this, feet in the sand, looking at the sunset. Isn’t that what a summer hit is all about!?
