Hannah Georgas prepares release of third album with stunning single
Hannah Georgas is not an unknown name in the Canadian music industry anymore. The singer-songwriter released her first album in 2010 and a second one followed in 2012 and with both records she was nominated for awards like Juno’s and the Polaris Music Prize. She is ready for a new chapter though. Her third album For Evelyn, named after her grandmother, will be released on the 24th of June and the stunning track ‘Don’t Go’ was released as first single.
Georgas keeps it in the family for this record. The song was inspired by the fear of losing her mother. “For the last number of years I had been living far away from family. The distance definitely started weighing on me. I realised that time passes by so quickly and I was really feeling the need to be closer to home. It’s an overwhelming feeling coming to terms with the fact that one day my mom isn’t going to be around. I was feeling that heaviness when I was writing this song.” This dark message comes across well in the lyrics and the moody atmosphere of the tune. The production by Graham Walsh is perfect with some thundering drums and synths to go with Hannah’s captivating vocals. She recorded a dark and compelling video with Sammy Rawal, which suits the track like a glove.
