Britney Spears comes back with smooth new single ‘Make Me’
It has been a while since we heard any new material by Britney Spears. We did see her perform a medley of hits during the Billboard Music Awards, but that wasn’t all too memorable. The pop star is busy with her residency shows in Las Vegas, but found some time to record and release a new single. The track is called ‘Make Me’ and serves as the first release from her upcoming ninth studio album. The good news here is that it sounds better than anything on the disappointing previous album Britney Jean and the  forgotten Iggy Azalea collaboration ‘Pretty Girls’.

On ‘Make Me’ Britney returns to a sexy mix of pop and R&B with a slight twist of hiphop in G-Eazy’s verse. This is the sound that triumphed on her album In The Zone, but with an updated production, that slighty reminds of Flume’s hit ‘Never Be Like You’. The verses are catchy and build up to an infectious hook in the chorus and it features Britney’s best, least autotuned vocals in a while. The question is however, if this song is sufficient enough to make Britney into a relevant pop star again in this day and age. Although it is her best single in a while, I doubt that it is special and ear catching enough to make it a big hit.

Update: Britney organizes audiitions for hot guys in the steamy video. Oh and we no longer have to wonder where that album cover came from…
