Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha prove to be a dream team on new single
Over the past couple of years we have seen a whole lot of successful DJ and pop star collaborations. It is a trend that still proves itself to be successful quite often. Producer and DJ Martin Garrix, who had his big breakthrough at the age of 17 with the international success single ‘Animal’, worked with a lot of big DJ names, including Afrojack and Tiesto. Last year he had a hit with ‘Don’t Look Down’, a collaboration with global R&B star Usher. Now he is back with ‘In The Name of Love’, featuring the vocals of Bebe Rexha and together with her, he debuts a sound that is new to him, but very much 2016.
Bebe Rexha did her fair share of collaborations as well. The American pop star of Albanian descent is mostly known for ‘Hey Mama’, her collaboration with David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Afrojack, but more recently also wrote for pop stars like Nick Jonas (‘Under You’) and Iggy Azalea (‘Team’). She takes centre stage vocally on ‘In The Name of Love’ which could be the push her solo career needs. She absolutely takes the track to a higher level with her powerful and emotive vocals, which work perfectly for this type of track.
Garrix had success so far with upbeat dance and house tunes and switches things up with this new single. ‘In The Name of Love’ is not as uptempo as his usual work, but sounds more like electronic pop. It follows the trend that made Major Lazer and Flume so successful over the past years. A big sing along chorus? Check! A catchy drop after? Check! ‘In The Name of Love’ is right on the money and I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns into one of the biggest hits in both Martin’s and Bebe’s career. They truly are a match made in heaven on this track!
Update: The video for the collaboration surfaced online on the 9th of August. We see Martin and Bebe looking stunning while they jump in the water. Some under water action between the two follows!
