Song of the Day: Dan Owen – Made To Love You

Dan Owen Made to Love You

Dan Owen launches personal song with important message
Fans of British singer-songwriter Birdy are already familiar with talent Dan Owen and the rest of the world might follow soon. Owen, a 24 years old singer-songwriter from Shrewsbury, toured through Europe with Birdy this year and will continue to do more dates in the fall. His first steps to a career in music happened when a recording of him covering Bob Dylan classic ‘The Ballad Of Hollis Brown’ ended up online and went viral. Now he is ready to conquer the hearts of more music lovers with his brand new single ‘Made To Love You’.

“A bit heavy, but if this song helps one person break the cycle of an abusive relationship, it will be worth every second of writing and recording”, he wrote when debuting the lyrics to the song on his Facebook page. Owen wrote the song after hearing about the abusive relationship one of his friends was in. The moody piano ballad deals with the doubt and questions when the person you thought loved you ends up hurting you. “You were my wildest dream, but your open hands would become my enemies”, he sings with an extraordinary talent to convey emotion in his voice. With both Dan’s mature sounding vocals and his deep songwriting it shows he developed well beyond his years in his still young career. Absolutely one to watch out for!

His EP Open Hands and Enemies will be out on the 12th of September.

Update: The video is out and is a raw and for some unexpected visualization of the song’s lyrics. See for yourself!
