Florence + the Machine drops another new soundtrack song
Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine is quickly becoming the queen of soundtracks. After the excellent ‘Over The Love’ for The Great Gatsby and ‘Breath of Life’ for Snow White and the Huntsman, she dropped a stunning EP of three tracks for the upcoming new game Final Fantasy XV. Today another Florence track sees the light of day. She recorded the song ‘Wish That You Were Here’ with her band for the soundtrack of the upcoming Tim Burton movie Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Who would have thought we would be getting so much new Florence + the Machine music in between album campaigns!? One would have expected her to take a break from releasing after last year’s incredible record How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, but that is certainly not the case. It goes without saying that new Florence music always is a treat and ‘Wish That You Were Here’ is certainly no exception. The almost seven minutes long piece of singer-songwriter pop starts out small, but builds up to a big chorus with an emotional message. Florence sounds beautifully fragile when she sings the words of the title. The dynamics between the understated verses and the more bombastic chorus work perfectly and of course it all would not be complete with some harp sounds here and there, adding some ethereal touches to it all. Florence + the Machine never disappoints.
