Melanie C returns with current sounding new single
While Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Mel B announced a Spice Girls reunion on the 20th birthday of their hit ‘Wannabe’, former Sporty Spice Melanie C made clear she is not planning to join in. It seems she has her mind set on her solo career again, as she will be releasing a new album, Version of Me, next month. The first single taken from her first studio record with original material since 2011’s The Sea is ‘Anymore’ and was premiered alongside a brand new music video.

Mel C turned out to be the Spice Girl with the most successful solo career with worldwide hits like ‘I Turn To You’ and ‘Never Be The Same Again’ from 2000, but it has been a while since whe saw her high up the charts. Based on the quality of her brand new single she should be back soon! ‘Anymore’ is a delicious piece of contemporary pop. The production is very 2016 without trying too hard and that chorus is undeniable in every way. The whole track swings thanks to a funky bass in the background and needless to say Mel’s distinctive vocals shine. Lyrically ‘Anymore’ is a break up anthem about trying to dance the pain away: “I hear the music, but I can’t dance. I should be moving, but I’m stuck and I need to fight this feeling, so I stay here on the floor. I’m not supposed to love you anymore!” Well, we can sure groove to this Melanie!

Mel C’s seventh studio album Version of Me will be released on the 21st of October.
