BANKS goes deep on new track from second album The Altar
We only have to wait two more weeks before American electronic pop artist BANKS will release her sophomore album The Altar. She knows exactly what to do to make our expectations rise even higher. After the catchy first single ‘Fuck With Myself’, the outstanding follow up ‘Gemini Feed’ with one of the best choruses of the year and the tragically beautiful ‘Mind Games’, she presents us a fourth track taken from the record, titled ‘To The Hilt’.
If ‘To The Hilt’ is anything to go by, The Altar, just like its predecessor Goddess, will have some truly heartbreaking moments. In the gripping piano ballad she looks back on a break up with a softer vocal style than we are used to from her, but still with that same emotional intensity. “This song is sacred to me. It felt like it needed to be the last thing you heard from me. It’s a bit gentle. It also doesn’t fit in between songs. It needs space because it’s so emotional. It needs time to breathe and to be digested”, she explained in an interview with SBTS. She is totally right about that! Luckily it is not the last thing we hear from her, because on the 30th of September we will be able to listen to all of The Altar.
