JoJo speaks out on feisty new track from Mad Love
If you thought ‘F*ck Apologies’ was about as feisty as JoJo could get, you might want to think again. The big comeback of the pop star who broke through with the hit single ‘Leave (Get Out)’ when she was just 13 years old, comes with a confident attitude. JoJo is not afraid to call out her enemies and she does so with straight and sharp lyrics on new promo single ‘FAB.’, taken from her upcoming third album Mad Love (of which she dropped the title track last week), out on the 14th of October. JoJo is back and obviously means business.
As you might have guessed by now this track has nothing to do with the word ‘fabulous’. Actually, ‘FAB.’ stands for ‘fake ass bitches’ and apparently JoJo has come across quite a few of them. “When they smile in your face, but behind you it ain’t well wishes. When they eatin’ all the food off your plate and they don’t do dishes… No time for these fake ass bitches”, JoJo sings in the chorus over a light beat that mixes pop with a slice of R&B. In an interview JoJo explained how this song was inspired by the music industry that sometimes feels like a high school. After years of fights with her label she is finally able to release new music again so it is not hard to guess who these ‘fake ass bitches’ are according to her. Remy Ma also brings some fire with a rap verse over the middle eight. Production wise this is very much on point and JoJo makes the track with her flawless delivery. It is so good to have her back!
