Alicia Keys sings about ‘blended families’ on new single
Alicia Keys has had quite a busy year so far. She came back swinging in May when she dropped her nothing short of brilliant single ‘In Common’. Unfortunately the rest of the world did not see the light (yet) and the track did pass by almost unnoticed. She tried again with the heartfelt ballad ‘Hallelujah’, that did not set the charts on fire either. She did grace us with another beautifully produced gem, ‘Back To Life’, the soundtrack for the movie Queen of Katwe. Recently she has been creating quite some momentum around her persona with her role as a judge on the new season of The Voice US and just dropped a brand new single titled ‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love)’, taken from the upcoming album Here, out on the 4th of November.

Alicia Keys started as a judge on The Voice this season and so far her appearance on the talent show has received positive reactions. Good timing to release another single and announce an album release. The new track is a heartfelt ode to the ‘blended family’ she created with her partner Swizz Beats. Keys sings about raising her step sons as her own and overcoming the difficulties that might occur in such a family situation with love. “The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids … the most important part of our lives”, she explained. Keys sings this powerful message over a straightforward and stripped down production with prominent percussion, piano and a catchy acoustic guitar riff. A$AP Rocky shares his experiences with growing up in the midst of step moms and step sisters during the middle eight. It is catchy to say the least and will probably speak to a lot of people who make a similar family situation work.
