Louisa Johnson makes official solo debut with ‘So Good’
After winning the X Factor in the UK last year, Louisa Johnson and her team made quite an unusual choice earlier this year. The talented singer’s first release after the talent show was a collaboration! Johnson provided vocals for Clean Bandit’s single ‘Tears‘ and the collaboration is for sure one of the best pop releases of the year. Louisa’s powerful vocals worked perfectly for the disco inspired break up anthem. Now it is time for Louisa to do it on her own with the brand new single ‘So Good’.

The track starts out dramatically with prominent strings that echo the sound of the most iconic Bond soundtracks. That reference fades away as quickly as it came up when you hear the rest of ‘So Good’ though. It is a very recognizable party song, about those nights during the week where you go see your friends for one drink and end up partying until the sun comes up. We all have been there, haven’t we? Louisa suddenly has and she just can’t help herself. “You know me, I never leave. Don’t say I didn’t warn you”, she sings. Considering these lyrics you might have expected an uptempo pop banger, but she actually delivers a by soul inspired midtempo track. Vocally she is very much on point like always, but to be fair, after ‘Tears’ I hoped for a little bit more. She does stand a chance of connecting with her young audience on this one though. It will be interesting to see where this goes charts wise!
