Halsey contributes to Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack with new single
Halsey surprised us back in 2015 when she released her intriguing debut album Badlands with sharp electronic productions and highly personal lyrics. A year later the whole world got to know her as the female vocalist on the hit ‘Closer’ by the Chainsmokers. After that huge success, Halsey is now back with some of her own material. She contributes the single ‘Not Afraid Anymore’ to the soundtrack for the movie Fifty Shades Darker and it will be interesting to see if she can have her own hit single on the back of the success of that collaboration.

The makers of the Fifty Shades film series have no problem attracting big stars to record a track for the soundtracks. The first single this time around was ‘ Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, the duet by Zayn and Taylor Swift. Halsey’s ‘Not Afraid Anymore’ is the second track taken from the album and might actually be the more interesting one so far. The electronic production is dark and Halsey’s belting vocals over the chorus are strong enough to keep us on the edge of our seats. Also note how the lyrics (“And touch me like you never, cause I’m not afraid anymore”) actually fit perfectly with the story of the female lead in the movie. ‘Not Afraid Anymore’ might be a little too heavy on the beats and drums to become a radio sensation, but it is definitely a promising progression from her debut!

If the track was not yet released on Spotify in your country, listen to it here.
