Frank Ocean drops brand new track ‘Chanel’
Who would have thought!? After keeping his fans waiting for over four years for his second studio album Blonde, it seems there is no stopping Frank Ocean at the moment. This year only, already two tracks with his vocals on it, were released. Last month his collaboration with Calvin Harris and Migos, ‘Slide’, dropped and now there is brand new solo material. Out of nowhere he launched the track ‘Chanel’, possibly taken from a new solo project.

Ocean made a big and long awaited comeback in the summer of 2016. After a whole lot of teasing the visual project Endless was released and days later the proper album Blonde followed. Apparently there is another project under the name Blonder waiting in the wings, of which ‘Chanel’ is the first sign.

Sonically it is quite similar to what he did on Blonde, experimenting with atmospheric soundscapes and minimal productions. ‘Chanel’ lyrically is one of his most explicitly sexual yet, discussing a male love interest who ‘is pretty like a girl’, but ‘got fight stories to tell’. His flow on ‘Chanel’ is outstanding, easily swapping between fast paced raps and singing on the top of his lungs during the middle eight. Consider me intrigued to hear more.
