Iggy Azalea tries again with new single ‘Mo Bounce’
Iggy Azalea is a striking example of how fast a pop star can reach the highest heights, while falling a long way down soon after. The Australian rapper and singer was on top of the world in 2014 when her singles ‘Fancy’ with Charli XCX and ‘Black Widow’ featuring Rita Ora became smash hits, but everything she released after that, did not come close to her sudden success. Last year she came back to the spotlight with ‘Team’, a feisty new single to kick off a new era. The track never really made much of an impact and Azalea disappeared again, until today, as she drops her brand new single ‘Mo Bounce’.
It is looking very unlikely for Iggy Azalea to reach her former levels of success with this tune. Yes, it is catchy, but not necessarily in a good way. ‘Mo Bounce’ opens with the main hook, which is repeated throughout the track to infinity and it sure as hell starts to get on the nerves quite quickly. When the first verse kicks in, the thumping baseline sounds promising, but there is no variation in terms of production, which makes the track as a whole not only repetitive, but also monotonous. Sure, her raps at times hit the right spot, but it is not nearly enough to make up for the fact that ‘Mo Bounce’ just goes nowhere. After listening to this a few times I can honestly say I don’t want anyone to say the word ‘bounce’ in my presence for at least a week.
I dont like the video, but I love the song
