Single Review: Zayn feat. PartyNextDoor – Still Got Time

Zayn Partynextdoor still got time

Zayn and PartyNextDoor ready for Spring on new single
Zayn Malik was all over 2016, from start to finish. The pop star who started his career as part of the boyband One Direction, dropped his outstanding solo debut ‘PillowTalk’ in January last year and the album Mind Of Mine followed soon after. For the rest of the year he treated us to some great collaborations, including ‘Cruel’ with SnakeHips and of course the worldwide hit ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ with Taylor Swift, used as the soundtrack for Fifty Shades Darker. Zayn is ready for a new step in his still young career with a brand new single. He collaborated on ‘Still Got Time’ with PartyNextDoor and by the sounds of it, they are ready for Spring!

To be completely honest, on first listen ‘Still Got Time’ is quite an uneventful track. The production by Murda Beats and Frank Duke at first sounds very minimal and it does not really build to any climax. After a few spins however, the strengths of the tune start to unfold itself. That subtle beat in the background turns out to be actually quite swinging and infectious and Zayn’s low vocals unfold from monotonous to warm and sensual. PartyNextDoor’s verse is very much on point as well with some nice play on words. The theme of the lyrics is basically telling a girl that she shouldn’t be too blinded by looking for true love and just enjoy the moment while she is still young and has plenty of time to find the right guy. The whole track just breathes this effortlessly laidback vibe that will match perfectly with the upcoming Spring weather in most parts of the world. I’m not sure if this is instant enough to make it to the top of the charts, but I will definitely add it to my sunny weather playlist!
