Paramore comes back as new band with single ‘Hard Times’
It is already over four years ago that we last heard new music from Paramore! This break from recording gave them enough time to make some major changes in the band’s line up. Drummer Zac Farro who initially left the band back in 2010 is now back while bassist Jeremy Davis decided to pack his bags and leave. On their comeback single ‘Hard Times’, taken from the upcoming album After Laughter to be released on the 12th of May, they sound like a completely new band!
If you are still expecting some punky guitar pop like their hits ‘Misery Business’ and ‘Decode’, you will be surprised. ‘Hard Times’ starts out with a tropical intro that develops into a funky guitar riff. Towards the climax of the track, the synths take over and they make ‘Hard Times’ into an irresistibly catchy pop track that brings back the 80s while also reminding me of more current bands like Chvrches and the Ting Tings. I dare to say Paramore has never sounded so uplifting before while their image is more colourful these days than Hayley’s hair has ever been. Her characteristic vocal performance is still the driving force behind their sound though! This is a daring transformation as a band, but it totally works if you ask me. It sure is good to have them back!
