HAIM return with proper comeback single ‘Want You Back’
Last week, almost four years after the release of their debut album Days Are Gone, HAIM returned to the spotlight with the release of a semi live recording of new song ‘Right Now’. Now the release of the proper comeback single ‘Want You Back’ follows. On the 7th of July they will launch their highly anticipated sophomore album Something To Tell You.

Although ‘Right Now’ is a beautiful, typical HAIM song with an intense build up and some glorious vocals from all three sisters, it is good to hear that they cooked up something more instant and radiofriendly for the first single. ‘Want You Back’ is not a major departure from the sound of their debut album at all and although part of their fan base might have hoped for them to switch things up a bit more after the long wait, they excel at what they do. Ariel Rechtshaid nailed the production part again, carefully creating a laidback atmosphere with Danielle still as lead vocalist, but both Este and Alana get time to show off their voices as well. The harmonies are on point and the vibe is a mix of breezy 90s alt pop with some hints of Fleetwood Mac and the Bangles. ‘Want You Back’ is not a departure from the sound they became popular with, but in terms of vocals this is a step forward and they still sound as cool as four years ago!
