Marina Kaye does it ‘on her own’ on new single
Marina Kaye is one of the biggest pop stars in France over the past couple of years. The singer rose to fame back in 2011 when she was just 13 years old when she won the French version the ‘Got Talent’ shows. Her debut album Fearless became a huge success and the lead single ‘Homeless’ charted internationally. Last year she found herself high up in the charts again when ‘Mon Everest’, her collaboration with French rapper Soprano, grew out to be a big hit. Now Marina is ready for the next chapter in her career. According to Le Parisien her sophomore album Made In Kaye will arrive in October. The first single ‘On My Own’ is out now!
Marina Kaye’s fans who loved her big belting vocals on singles like ‘Homeless’, will sure fall in love with her all over again after hearing ‘On My Own’. The track starts out with piano and Marina’s voice. Slowly but steadily it builds up to a huge chorus with soaring vocals, throwing hook after hook at us. It is traditional vocal pop, executed convincingly. Lyrically, it is Marina’s break-up anthem, a declaration of independence. “Not gonna set myself on fire just to keep you warm, not gonna save you from the ocean just to drown in the storm”, she confidently states, concluding: “I’ll be flying higher ’til I get home, I don’t need this empty feeling to carry me on.” Marina is back and hopefully ‘On My Own’ will mean an international breakthrough!
