Maroon 5 and Julia Michaels help eachother out on new single
Maroon 5’s music might sound less and less like the band that had their immense breakthrough with the iconic single ‘This Love’ and more and more like a trend chasing pop act, but they are still a force to be reckoned with in today’s music industry. They returned at the end of last year with Kendrick Lamar collaboration ‘Don’t Wanna Know’. This year Adam Levine and his band mates released ‘Cold’ with Future and ‘What Lovers Do’ with upcoming R&B star SZA. Now it’s Julia Michaels’ turn. THe singer and songwriter appears on new track ‘Help Me Out’ as songwriter and Adam’s duet partner.
Maroon 5 announced that their R&B inspired sixth album Red Pill Blues (yeah, that’s really the title) will be launched in November. ‘Help Me Out’ is the most stripped back and subtle out of the singles released so far. Sonically it is probably closer to Julia’s hit ‘Issues’ than anything Maroon 5 has ever done before. The track is one laidback, catchy ride from start to finish and delivers enough hooks to turn this into a radio success. Vocally, Adam mostly shows off the higher register of his vocals while Julia sounds warmer. Their voices have quite different tones, but do blend well together. ‘Help Me Out’ is an endearing pop song written for radio and I would be surprised if this does not at least low key dominates the charts soon.
