Single Review: Sigrid – Strangers

Sigrid drops another extremely catchy pop tune
Sigrid is one in an incredible line-up of new female pop stars from Scandinavia and Norway in particular. The 21-year-old had her big break earlier this year with her official debut single ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ that brought her a lot of international attention. She followed it up with the excellent ‘Plot Twist’, taken from the four tracks strong Don’t Kill My Vibe EP. With these songs she has been touring festivals and clubs during summer and fall and now it is time to drop something new. Her brand new single is titled ‘Strangers’ and it is just as catchy as its predecessors.

It is no secret anymore that Sigrid has a great ear for catchy pop melodies. From the two singles to the feisty ‘Fake Friends’ and the beautiful ballad ‘Dynamite’, all her tunes so far have remarkable choruses that serve hook after hook. The productions are proper pop with some subtle electronic influences. ‘Strangers’ is no exception. The pace is high, the beats swinging and Sigrid’s delivery is pop star worthy. Lyrically, the track looks back at a relation that ended while the ex-lovers start to see each other as strangers. Tune and a half Sigrid, come through with that debut album we need in our lives!
