Chvrches return with big new single ‘Get Out’
One of Schotland’s most exciting export products, Chvrches, is back! The synth pop band with front woman Lauren Mayberry released their most recent album Every Open Eye back in 2015 so it was about time they returned! After a long string of singles including the brilliant ‘Clearest Blue’ and ‘Empty Threat’ and a long club and festival tour, they made their way back into the studio to record new material. The first taste of this is lead single ‘Get Out’, taken from upcoming album Love Is Dead.

On first listen it immediately becomes clear that ‘Get Out’, produced by Greg Kurstin, is not a huge departure from the sound that made Chvrches big in the first place. It is a straightforward slice of synth pop with some infectious melodies. The main hook though, the one that is supposed to carry the chorus, seems a bit repetitive and predictable, but they easily make up for this with a strong post-chorus and an incredible middle-eight (that Kaleidoscope part is huge!). It might not be the most progressive thing they have ever released, but at the same time this does stand a chance to be picked up by British radio and why change a winning formula anyway? Welcome back Chvrches and please keep us bopping!
