Lana Del Rey records her version of ‘You Must Love Me’
Lana Del Rey is one of the most productive pop stars of our time and she keeps on proving this ever so often. She released her fourth album (fifth if you count Paradise) in six years last summer when Lust For Life came out. She has since appeared on Børns single ‘God Save Your Young Blood’ and today her version of Andrew Lloyd Webber classic ‘You Must Love Me’ saw the light of day. It is part of a project called Andrew Lloyd Webber Unmasked: The Platinum Collection for which stars including Beyoncé and Nicole Scherzinger, perform his most famous compositions. Let us see what Lana Del Rey made of it!

Lana recorded ‘You Must Love Me’, an Oscar winning song taken from the Evita soundtrack, originally performed by Madonna. Del Rey’s version stays close to the sound of the original in terms of instrumentation. It is piano based and involves some prominent strings. Vocally however, Lana’s interpretation is way more dreamy than Madonna’s more dramatic take on it. It is a cool reimagination of the song and we know we can always count on Del Rey to bring us some tasteful soundtrack stuff! We have to wait until the 16th of March to see what other artists did with Lloyd Webber’s classics, as that is when the new compilation will be released.
