Amy Shark announces debut album and drops first single
Amy Shark finally announced the release of her long awaited debut album. The Australian indie pop star had her breakthrough at the age of 30 when her single ‘Adore’ became one of the biggest hits of 2016 in her home country. In 2017 she launched her first 6 track EP called Night Thinker and started touring in Europe. After a few big television gigs in the States, she will release her debut album Love Monster on the 13th of July and lead single ‘I Said Hi’ is out now!
Judging by the first single, Amy’s debut album will follow the sound she carefully laid down on her EP. ‘I Said Hi’ is a breezy guitar driven pop tune with a crystal clear chorus. The lyrics deal with her years long battle for her big break in the music industry, addressing the label representatives that turned her down over and over, but now want a piece of her success. “I lay half awake, thinking what’s it’s gonna take, for my moment to arrive, so sick and paralyzed”, she shows her vulnerable side describing the struggle only to continue in a sassy manner: “Lying on my side, watching time fly by and I bet the whole world thought that I would give up today.” This song will serve as inspiration for all the singer-songwriters out there who did not get their moment to shine yet. Thank God for Amy Shark!
