AURORA plays to her strenghts on excellent new single
Norwegian pop star and singer-songwriter AURORA returned with the single ‘Queendom’ after an extensive tour for her debut album All My Demons Are Greeting Me As A Friend. While still touring most of the time, there was a documentary shot about her, her voice appeared in a trailer for the upcoming Dumbo movie and she now casually drops ‘Forgotten Love’, the second single from her upcoming sophomore album, which is rumoured to be titled Infections of a Different Kind.
While ‘Queendom’ was a nice introduction to the new era, it did lack a compelling chorus. ‘Forgotten Love’ more than makes up for this! The track starts out with AURORA’s fairy like vocals over some minimal instrumentation, while it quickly builds into a little pop thunderstorm with dark piano tones and thrilling drums. The hook in the chorus is one of her strongest yet and her lyrics are poetic as ever; “f I am left with a rose in my hand, let it die. It’s the beauty in forgotten love.” To make things even more exciting, she provides her own backing vocals in Norwegian in the bridge! AURORA has a completely unique sound going on that did evolve after the first album, but is still quintessentially hers. My faith in her sophomore album is fully restored!
