AlunaGeorge returns with slowjam and announces EP
AlunaGeorge is back on track! The UK duo has two albums to their name, of which the most recent, I Remember, came out in 2016. The commercial performance was not up to par with the expectations of their label, causing trouble in their career, not being able to put out new music. Now things are finally set in motion again. On the 5th of October AlunaGeorge will launch the new EP Champagne Eyes and the first single, ‘Superior Emotion’, is out now.

It is safe to say that Aluna is excited to finally be sharing music with the world again; she described the feeling as ‘taking a dump after you had constipation for 72 hours’ in a social media post. ‘Superior Emotion’ features Brooklyn based producer and writer Cautious Clay. The track is a proper slowjam and that might not be the first thing you’d expect from the duo that is mostly known for their bouncy electro pop tunes with dancehall flavours. That does not mean Aluna and George cannot pull it off though. The track that describes chasing the highs that come with falling in love (but could also be interpreted as being about an addiction), has a delicate synth production and a surprisingly soulful R&B vibe. Aluna’s vocals have never sound so pure before and Cautious Clay owns his verse, putting his mark on the tune. It is good to see artists finally being able to release the music they want to and it is even better when it sounds as great as ‘Superior Emotion’ too!
