Ciara drops Dark Child produced single ‘Dose’
It is over 14 years ago that Ciara had her big break with the hit singles ‘Goodies’ and ‘1, 2 Step’, but the American R&B star is still going strong. She now has six albums to her name, of which the most recent one, Jackie, came out in 2015. Ciara returned in July of this year with the single ‘Level Up’, which was quickly followed up by ‘Freak Me’. There is no news about an upcoming album yet, but Ciara keeps delivering the tunes. She worked with 00’s producing legend DarkChild on ‘Dose’ which is out now.
For both Ciara and DarkChild goes that they peaked mid-noughties when it comes to the charts. Other than working with Ciara, he produced some of Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige’s biggest hits, while also collaborating with Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. He excelled at a pop and R&B crossover sound that dominated the previous decade. Not surprisingly, the new single ‘Dose’ sounds like it could have come out in 2004 too, as part of Ciara’s debut or Destiny’s Child last album. Needless to say it is a bop and a half! The production could not be anymore upbeat with rolling drums, a bouncy chorus and a breakdown as middle-eight that deserves some outstanding choreography. Now we all know we can count on Ciara to serve us just that. Her vocal delivery on ‘Dose’ is outstanding and the track presents two major hooks that serve as a chorus and post-chorus. This could have been an easy number one about ten years ago, but even today it deserves to become her biggest hit in quite a while! Oh and please drop that fierce video we know is coming ASAP please!
