Kesha sings about change on new soundtrack single
Kesha made her big comeback in the summer of last year with the album Rainbow, presenting a more country inspired sound. The lead single ‘Praying’ became an international hit and was praised for the powerful message after all she went through in her career. After the album, Kesha appeared on a Macklemore single and recorded the soundtrack single ‘This Is Me’ for The Greatest Showman. Today she is back with the track ‘Here Comes The Change’ for the upcoming movie On The Basis of Sex.
On The Basis of Sex is a movie about Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the US Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s fight for equal rights. Kesha wrote the song ‘Here Comes The Change’ together with Wrabel and Drew Pearson after watching the movie, being inspired by what Bader Ginsburg was able to achieve. Sonically the track is very much in line with the more stripped back work on Kesha’s Rainbow. It is a guitar based country ballad with a big belter of a chorus. In the lyrics, Kesha shares the sentiment of wanting to make actual change in her life. “I hope I leave this place better than I found it”, she sings in the opening verse. In a piece on Refinery29 Kesha explains what the song means to her and tells her fans that making change can be as easy as using your right to vote. And she is damn right about that! She delivers a meaningful track with hopeful lyrics that go further than just the movie it is supporting. We love us a queen with a message!
