Dua Lipa does K-pop on re-release of debut album
Remember when Dua Lipa was struggling to get a hit to launch her album with? Yeah, those days are far behind us. After she managed to get her debut record out, the single ‘New Rules’ became a huge international hit and shot Lipa into super stardom. Over a year later she is still in the charts constantly and now decided to release a ‘complete edition’ of said album with all the collaborations she has done and some brand new tunes.
The second disc includes her highly successful collaborations with the likes of Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, Silk City and Sean Paul, as well as the track ‘Want To‘ she dropped recently as part of a Jaguar commmercial. That leaves us with two brand new tunes; ‘Running’ and ‘Kiss and Make Up’ featuring Korean girl band BLACKPINK. The K-pop collab is the one getting the proper push, probably partly aimed at bringing her more success in Asia as well. Lipa co-wrote the track and invited the girls of BLACKPINK to join the recording. They took care of the second verses and added some lyrics in Korean. The track works perfectly for both acts and damn that chorus…. THAT CHORUS! So well produced and insanely catchy! BOP confirmed!
‘Running’ is not as instant or hit worthy, but a strong enough pop tune to crown this glorious pop era that made what was heading towards a flop into one of the biggest breakthroughs we have seen in recent years!
