Laroussi launches debut single ‘Lost’
Laroussi is back! Back you say? Was she ever here then? Well, yes and no. Laroussi is the new stage name used by Hind, a Dutch-Moroccan pop artist. Under the name Hind she finished top 3 in the first season of the Dutch version of Pop Idol, represented the Netherlands at Eurovision in 2008 and released three albums. Laroussi decided to leave the Netherlands and settle in Los Angeles to find herself as an artist again. She is back with a new sound, her last name as stage name, and the single ‘Lost’.
The new track ‘Lost’ is written by Brody Brown, Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan and Blush while also being produced by Brown, who has worked with stars like Bruno Mars, Kesha and Cee Lo Green before. While Laroussi’s music often mixed pop with her Moroccan roots in the past, she announces her upcoming record A+ as a mix of pop, R&B and soul and ‘Lost’ is proof of that. The track is essentially a pop ballad, but the minimalistic but ear catching production gives it a more haunting vibe. The chorus is vivacious and memorable and Laroussi’s vocals still sound as soulful and warm as always. The lyrics describe the feeling of losing yourself and not being able to shut out the negative thoughts that cloud your mind. Relatable stuff! I for one am perched to hear more!
Laroussi released some trippy visuals to go with the track in which she channels her inner FKA twigs and BANKS.
