Billie Eilish releases song inspired by movie Roma
After a career wise highly successful 2018, Billie Eilish ain’t slowing down anytime soon. The 17-year-old pop wonder recently announced that she finished her debut album which should be released during the first half of 2019. To keep the wait bearable, she has a little surprise for us. Together with her brother, who co-writes and produces most of her music, she created the song ‘When I Was Older’, inspired by the critically acclaimed 2018 movie Roma.

Eilish releases the track as part of the album Music Inspired By Roma, for which multiple artists composed a track that was inspired by the story and sound of the movie, hand picked by director Alfonso Cuarón. Billie and Finneas went for a dark take on the storyline of a boy who remembers past lives with the lyrics: “When I was older I was a sailor on an open sea, but now I’m underwater and my skin is paler than it should ever be.” Over an ominous sounding, quite minimal production, Billie’s mesmerizing vocals, sometimes altered with ear catching effects, take centre stage. Eilish delivered another anthem way beyond her years.
