Single Review: Eleni Foureira – Triumph

Eleni Foureira drops feminist bop ‘Triumph’
While most countries are in full preparation mode for Eurovision 2019, last year’s runner up Eleni Foureira, who represented Cyprus with ‘Fuego’, keeps serving us the bops. After ‘Fuego’ became an international hit, the singer came back last summer with the latin infused ‘Caremela’ and ‘Tómame’. She now dropped the Spanish lyrics and summery vibes for a bit, to bring us girl bands in 2011 realness with ‘Triumph’. The track, linked to a commercial campaign for a brand with the same name, has feminist lyrics with a lot of attitude. Eleni sings: “This one’s for all my girls, Ladies around the world, You know what you deserve, Together we’ll triumph.” The post-chorus with lyrics about turning off your phone to party hard is the catchiest bit. ‘Triumph’ does not exactly sound like a hit in 2019, as the production and composition feel a bit dated, but it will probably go down well with her Eurovision loving fan base!
